About these codes
Error codes appear on the front panel display of the water heater. The panel's Combustion/Error indicator shows combustion and error status, and the code itself appears as an E followed by three digits, such as E003.
Navien's User's Information Manual (Section 3.3 and Section 5.1) says that for minor problems, resetting the water heater may resolve the issue: press the Back button on the front panel. Your settings are kept during a power outage. Section 5.2 lists each code's reason and the self-diagnostic action.
Safety: Gas appliance. If you smell gas, do not try to light any appliance, do not touch any electric switch or use any phone in your building, and call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Navien: water temperatures at or above 125 °F (52 °C) can cause instant scalding, severe burns, or death.
If resetting the water heater and the remedies in the chart do not resolve the problem, Navien says to contact an authorized technician, a licensed professional, or Navien Technical Support.
